This week, uber cool ‘bodegon’ De La Panza opened its doors on Southgate Road, Islington. De La Panza, which is currently in a soft opening phase, will offer local residents fantastic plates of steaks, stews, tapas, pistos, escabeches and tartas as well as an extensive list of artisan, yet affordable wines, starting at around the £15 mark. Beer is, of course, Quilmes. Bodegones are upbeat, informal restaurants and cafes found all over Argentina. They are down to earth, simple places known for their wonderful food and daily specials using recipes often kept in families – often handed down through the generations.
